Malcom reporting in on his new life – April – July 2023

Hello all, it be me, Malcom.

Westie Rescue helped me get a new home a few months ago, so I wanted to provide an a few updates on my new life. My mom passed away so my human sister brought me all the way to Richmond, VA, so I could find a great new home. She called Westie Rescue and set up a time for a home visit.

Uncle Stephen came to visit me and we went for a short walk. As we walked he told my human sister he would take me to visit the Vets in Annapolis, MD (www.GAVH.com) to get a few shots, health checkup, and some tests. Well that didn't sound too bad all except the shot part. Well the trip was great we stopped at McDonalds to get some fries and the humans at the Vet were great. 24 hrs later I was ready to leave and start my new life.

I keep a log book with my adventures and a few pics so I can remember every detail.

At the Vets Uncle Stephen wrote to my new mom – Malcom says "Where are you? I need to get out of here!" You know how kids are, no sense of time. I told him to wait quietly He said he would try to be patient but his bag is all packed, he has had a brushing, and a snooze. The Vet says he was a perfect patient.

April 26 Morning

Well Uncle Stephen, She finally showed up and said I'm even cuter and sweeter than she could have ever imagined so I gave her a million kisses just to butter her up even more. Don't worry, I'll keep up the act and follow the rules for 3 days just like I promised, but after that all bets are off because we all already know I'm in for good! More soon after I check out some more smells and throw some more gratuitous kisses this lady's way. Love, Mr. Malcom

April 26 afternoon

This place has a yard which I think I might enjoy! There are some stairs here which are actually a piece of cake even though I'm used to the luxury of a lift. Can you believe Daisy gets carried up and down the stairs. She's a grouchy little old lady just as expected but that's cool, there's plenty of space to chill out and there's even a really friendly golden retriever who lives here too. She was super excited to meet me and show me all around the house and the yard, what, does she think I need a tour guide or something, this is my home too for goodness sake! I hear there are a couple cats that make an appearance once in a while too, in fact one of them even came over and said hello, whatever. Im too busy staring my new chapter in life. My new mom keeps telling me how much she loves me already and how I bring joy whenever I go. Maybe if I just keep smooching her she'll eventually stop talking, but probably not. Thank you Uncle Stephen for the new digs and family, I'm settling right in already.

All this exploring is exhausting! Thankfully I found a comfy couch where I can curl up and catch some ZZZs

Hi Uncle Stephen, today I'm sightseeing in DC and it's sure different from the Washington I know. Here's me stopping for a water break. Must hydrate!

May 10

Hello Uncle Stephen, I've been exploring the neighborhood here and my new mom keeps telling me she can't believe how good I am all the time, whether it's on the leash, in the bath or just snuggling together. Just checking in to tell you I am really enjoying life here. Eat. Sleep. Play. Repeat. -Malcom

Hello Uncle Stephen, sorry I've been out of touch I've just been so busy having fun, playing, exploring, trying to dig a hole through my bed, and catching some zzz's. I'm really doing well and sometimes get so excited I run around just for the heck of it. I've also been known to snore a tiny bit which my new mom tells me is adorable. Thank you for my new home and my new family, I'm doing great! Love, Malcom

Here's me in the backyard with my sister Daisy. She's actually ok. Sometimes grouchy, but she's an old lady so I don't hold it against her I just carry on being my cheerful and happy self!

And by the way, I continue to be an angel all the time including on walks. There's slack in the leash and I always stay right next to my new mom. She's constantly amazed how good I am and how well I walk with her. She tells me a thousand times each day how much she loves me and how much joy I bring everywhere I go.

Play time in the yard for Malcom & Daisy

Hey Uncle Stephen, my new family cannot get over just how sweet and kind and easygoing I am, literally all the time! Sometimes I jump around just to play and I like to attack my bed on occasion which my family finds hysterical. Guess what, I went to the groomer for a summer cut and even then I was a little angel. No kidding! Sometimes I can't believe it either, but I guess I'm just really happy and content and living my best life. Love, Malcom

July 12th

Hello Uncle Stephen and all my Westie Rescue friends, Malcom here.

I'm having a great summer exploring and taking in all the sights and smells of the season. We took a family vacation to Maine where I met even more members of my new family and they all just love me to pieces. We had so much fun together we're going back to Maine later this summer for a longer visit. In the meantime though, I'm going out on a boat! Just wait until you see me in my bright yellow life jacket…

Malcom here, my big sis and I have our bags packed, life vests on and we're ready for an adventure on the Chesapeake Bay.

The thing about the water, Uncle Stephen, is that it's kinda like sticking your head out the window while the car is moving, but on a bigger scale. My new mom and our Captain (aka my new dad) and I are off on an adventure for a few days. Who knew what happiness this next chapter would bring, and it's all thanks to you and Westie Rescue for finding me a new family. This is clearly right where I belong. I have all the love and memories of the past while enjoying every moment the present brings. Sometimes life changes course unexpectedly and feels uncertain, but Westie Rescue appeared like a superhero in my time of need and made everything right again.

Well that is all for now in my log book of adventures. Everything else is just a routine day of snoozing, sniffing, walks, food time and snoozing on the cool tile floor. Just the typical hot summer days of A/C living. I will be posting more adventure soon as it is summertime and that means VACATION TRAVEL! I have been hearing conversations that we may all go the the beach. I need to get my towel and confirm with all that if

I AM NOT GOING ALONG, NO ONE IS!!!

I will check in really soon with more updates…

Malcom, one happy little guy – July 2023

Westie Rescue would like to say CONGRATULATIONS! to Malcom and his new family. Our program would not exist is it was not for families who open their homes and hearts to these little ones who need a warm bed, good food, and lots of love.
