Westie Rescue is proud to announce that since our founding 30+ years ago we have rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed 1,500 Westies. Another milestone passed!
Each week Westie Rescue receives a notice that another Westie or two needs our help. Most of these Westies are happy friendly little ones who find themselves in wrong place at the wrong time. For the 1,500th time that happened just a few weeks ago, when two young Westie girls came into our arms helping Westies find those great new homes like yours. At 8-10 weeks old their owner had a medical emergency and was unable to care for herself and these two little ones. Westie Rescue was called on to care for them and pick out a home that would give them the love and care they need. A quick response was required on our part so a late-night trip was arranged and a few hours later the girls were on their way together to hang out with Uncle Stephen for the weekend.
Upon arriving in foster care, each girl received a well needed bath with whitening shampoo to remove all the stains and dirty rearends, followed up with a blow dry, and then a good dinner. After all that activity a walk was required to ensure a quiet and dry night time snooze until dawn!
One day later, it was off to the Vet for a complete health checkup, shots update, and lots of cooing by the hospital staff. Being carried around all day by the staff allows for a positive Vet visit. The girls got a Gold Star on their charts for good behavior in getting their nails trimmed. Total suck ups.
Well, they picked out their new owners and set up meet and greets for the next day. As the parties came in and they met with a tail wag, a zoom session, a long walk, and snuggling time. So, off they went on trial stays to make sure each party was happy with the selections. 24 hours later all reported in that their owners were "keepers" as they passed the final tests.
The girls report that they now have new names and are officially part of their new families.
Maggie and Tilly say: "Thanks Westie Rescue for helping us get the Vet care and support when we needed it. Oh, and thanks for helping us pick out a human or two who will hold us and provide a treat or two on demand!"
Westie Rescue is happy to see them off to a new life, ready for a future of bonding, road trips, and lots of experiences to grow into queens of their homes. We are now ready to accept our next group of Westies who will need medical attention in order to start a new life. With your financial support, Westie Rescue will be here to help.
