Updates from the Home front: “Thanks Westie Rescue for my life”

Thanks Westie Rescue for giving me my life back. I came into the program with broken LR upper leg bone that was shattered by a baseball bat hit. Westie Rescue had the wonderful vets at Greater Annapolis Vet Hospital, replace my bone and joint with an artificial replacement. When I woke up my left side look like a Thanksgiving turkey – all skin and stitches! I hurt and all I wanted to do was have my head held and be petted.

The surgery, they told me, was VERY expensive, cutting edge new, and my recovery took a long time. I couldn't chase anything, no ball playing, stairs, couch hopping, NOTHING! I had to be on a lead all the time outdoors. Uncle Stephen said it was hard on him too as he had to walk me multiple times a day and hold me still when we saw squirrels, but I wondered how that was hard on him as I was the one who had the surgery!??? He told me he had knee surgery too and it turned out fine. Healing he said takes a while.

160 days later….Now I can run and play ball, chase squirrels and everything! Thanks Westie Rescue for giving me everything, especially my new home and my Mom and Dad. They treat me like a king of the neighborhood. My mom even cooks special snacks for me…. I just love the steak pieces! I wonder some times how cats taste. Like chicken?

It was great to be a part of this program of giving Westies a chance at a second life.

  • Mr Cody, now a HAPPY rodent chaser!
