Updates from the Home front – Finley 2/2022

Westie Rescue Update from the home front – February 1, 2022

Finely staying warm on a cold day!

On of our rescue boys from 2021, is reporting in from his home in the farmland of Virginia.

Mr Finley – Male Westie (2 years old)

Mr. Finley wanted to let everyone know that his new home is perfect and he is enjoying life. Finley came into our program as he has Addison that requires a monthly shot, controlled diet, and a few pills. His original home has way too much activity for him as he will need long term care and constant monitoring to ensure there is a clear path ahead for a long life. He has found the perfect home with a loving couple that provides a quiet home and lots of attention.

Finley says: "I needed a new home as my old one had too many kids and way too much chaos. My owners loved me and I them, but they could not give me the medical attention I needed and they were in over their heads financially. So, they made the hard choice to give me a second chance at a new life. I was worried as everything I knew was gone, but with Westie Rescue's help, I found a PERFECT home.

I am now living the life in the farm land of Virginia with my new mom and dad, and a cat. I know who knew that cats are, OK? On cold days, which we are experiencing quite a few lately, Cats can keep your bed extra warm and they make great draft blockers. Now I have to figure out how to get some of its food and I will be golden.

We go on power walks every day with our jackets on and we leave the cat at home. There is so much to smell on farm land that I had been missing out over the past years. I smell rodents, foxes and the other day we came across a skunk trail. Let me tell you, if there ever was an animal that needs a daily bath it is a skunk! Man, I almost blew out a sinus channel running across that smell. Hope we never meet up on a dark night. Ooowee!

Now for the great part of my life. My mom and dad love me and treat me like I am family. We do everything together. Post Office runs, town runs and then there is dinner time. We all eat together. I have multiple sleeping spots and a glass door to look out of so the yard gets lots of patrol time. We have a squirrel infestation that needs constant monitoring, otherwise they think they own the place. I go out every few hours to let them knew the rules changed now that I am here.

I still get a monthly shot and we go to the vets to ensure my treatments are working as they are intended. So far all is good as the stress in my life is all gone. In its place is harmony and quiet. – Finley 2/2022

Westie Rescue says: Thanks to everyone involved in making another dream come true for a little guy who needed a second chance at a great life!

We had 2 of the most loving Westies a person could ever ask for. My little sweet girl Belle was 14 1/2 when we lost her Oct.19 2020. Our little sweet boy Teddy Bear was 15 when we had to put him down. We love Westies so so much! We live in Ozark Mo. and would take them out to Ft.Collins Colorado to CSU for cancer treatment,we Loved the Both of them so much, I my self cry everyday for their loss.
