Remedies

Some common household aids can be used for the minor problems Westies encounter in daily life. Try these remedies only after consultation with your veterinarian, since even a minor problem can be symptomatic of a more serious problem.

Stomach Ache Feed rice and ground meat diet for a few day

Dehydration or Heat Exhaustion Pedialyte

Infant dose of TagametTums with Calcium Supplement Daily

Diarrhea KaopectateFeed rice and ground meat diet for a few days
Hot Spots or Skin Irritations Dab of Vicks Vaporub will stop biting
Mild Allergic Reaction /insect bites Benadryl:0.5 mg per pound every 8 hours (maximum dosage is 2 mg per pound)

Elixer (12.5 mg/tsp): give 1 tsp/10 pounds.

Capsule (25 mg): give 1-2 caps/10 pounds
Pain caused by Trauma 1/2 baby aspirin
Dry, itchy skin Dip in a solution of 1 cup to Epson Salts and a tub of water for five minutes.

Follow by a dip in a solution composed of 1 cup of apple cider and a tub of water
